Our Story
The story of Kabourelias Restaurant begins long before the first table was set by the water. It begins in 1927, with Barba-Yiannis, a refugee from Imbros, carrying with him memories, flavours and the quiet strength of a simple Greek table.
1927 — The Beginning
From Imbros to Skiathos
In 1927, Barba-Yiannis arrived in Skiathos as a refugee from Imbros. With him came the flavours, stories and traditions of another homeland — memories that would slowly become part of a new life by the sea.

1969 — The Taverna Is Born
A small place in the old harbour
In 1969, he opened the taverna that would become Kabourelias. Known in the area by the nickname “Tourkaki”, Barba-Yiannis created a place that was simple, familiar and full of character — a table for locals, travellers, friends and families.
The Flavours
Asia Minor roots, Greek tradition
The kitchen was built around honest food: fresh fish, seafood meze, home-style dishes and Greek recipes made with care. Some flavours carried the memory of Asia Minor, others came straight from the Greek table — all of them prepared simply, generously and with respect.

More Than Half a Century Later
The same spirit continues
More than half a century later, Kabourelias Restaurant continues with the same warmth and family hospitality. The setting may have changed with the years, but the heart of the place remains the same: fresh food, familiar faces and a table close to the sea.

A Simple Greek Table Since 1969
At Kabourelias, the old harbour is not just the view. It is part of the story, part of the kitchen and part of every meal served by the water.
